Steps to a Smaller Carbon Footprint: Plastic-Free February

Posted on February 8, 2011

0 is about healthier living on a healthier planet. This month, they came up with a “Plastic-Free February” challenge.

The ground rules are simple:
1. No buying or acquiring new plastic.
2. No cooking with plastic or storing food in plastic.
3. Minimize all other plastic use.

The basic point is to get everyone to consciously reduce their use of plastic. Why? Because plastic pollution has been increasing exponentially. It’s made from non-renewable resources and toxic chemicals. Very little recyclable plastic is used in things we use on an everyday basis. And only 7% of plastic waste is actually recycled. All this will eventually lead to inevitable plastic doom.

I’m taking up this challenge – will you?
